The campus of GMIS was abuzz with palpable excitement on the 68th Republic Day on 26th January, 2017. The occasion was the Carnival organized in GMIS premises after the flag hoisting ceremony in Sanskardham. It indeed was a wonderful day filled with much laughter, fun and community spirit building activities. The event was managed by the teachers and students of GMIS with the great support of the Principal, Mr. Murugan Pillai.

Various stalls were set up in the Carnival, which provided an opportunity to the children as well as their parents to check their knowledge with fun. Spellathone, Maths puzzle, GK Quiz were the best integration of imagination, education technology, inclusiveness and fun at school along with a purpose. Students exhibited their creativity with artefacts made out of waste. The ‘Talent hunt’ provided a platform for parents as well as children to exhibit their talents in addition to feeling of satisfaction and fulfillment to the fun and frolic of the occasion.

Excited students enjoying at the games stalls, swaying at the dance floor on peppy dance numbers, tattoos and face painting and giggles at the kids play area together provided a dazzling array of sights and sounds. Selfie Zone, Art Zone and Theatre were other attractions enticing a large crowd. Children with their mothers were lined up to do the nail art and mehendi decoration with the coupon they won from the various Zones.

There were various games and activities which attracted the attention of students and parents. Various kind of Stalls were put up by the parents also which was really appreciable. There was plenty for the tastebuds too as there were delicacies at different food stalls in the carnival which were relished by one and all. The aroma of delicacies of the various Indian states blended with the international cuisines.

Since the entire event was organized by the students, they learnt multiple life skills like communication, managing money, people and resources. Exposure to such opportunities helped them hone their 21st century skills and give them the courage to experiment.

Managing so many people and the amount of responsibility that I felt while managing was a thrilling experience” Sanchi Gupta from standard 8th.

This event taught me the value of money in a way which no book could impart” Sunny from Standard 11th.

Going by the enthusiasm and the thrill of the large gathering at the venue and the feed back from the visitors, the event was a grand success.
